Brown to stay at McLaren

WHILE many teams are undergoing big changes at the moment McLaren is currently fairly stable although there is likely to be some restructuring in its race engineering team next year as it will once again include former Williams engineer David Brown. The Englishman joined McLaren three years ago but after one season in F1 was put in charge of McLaren's junior team program and spent this year running the West Competition Formula 3000 team. Brown wanted to get back into F1 and considered offers from both Williams and Prost Grand Prix before being convinced to stay at McLaren with the offer of a job back in F1. His reappearance will mean that engineer Pat Fry will be moving on. The highly-rated Fry is understood to be on his way to a rival team although it is unclear where he will be working next year.
