French Grand Prix confirmed...

THE French Grand Prix, which has been hanging in the balance for the last six months, is back on with the Formula 1 teams scheduled to race at Magny-Cours as expected on June 28. The event will clash with the Soccer World Cup matches which will determine the teams that will go through to the quarter-finals of the competition, but careful TV scheduling should avoid a direct clash.

The race was left out of the Grand Prix calendar in September last year because of a dispute between the FIA and the French government over broadcasting rights. The French eventually agreed to back down and change the law to restrict access to the race for rival channels of TF1, the TV channel which bought the exclusive rights to the race from the FIA.
