Goodyear announces a major reshuffle

GOODYEAR has restructured its staff in Formula 1, CART and in the Indy Racing League. Following the announcement that the company's manager of international racing Cal Lint is to move on to a new position, Perry Bell has been named as his replacement. Bell has spent 16 years developing racing tires but in recent years has been working on production car tires.

Goodyear is also replacing its chief engineer in F1 with Terry Waibel moving on and Andy Weimer taking over. The company has also nominated Randy Brayer to be its new chief of its race tire engineering team. The F1 engineering team is also being expanded to include British engineer Nick Hill, who will be based at the Goodyear's European racing headquarters in Wolverhampton.

As part of the restructuring the company has announced that it is recruiting another 125 young engineers to work on tire development, eighty of these jobs will be in Akron, Ohio with the remaining 45 being at Goodyear's European facility in Luxembourg.
