Strange FIA goings-on

THE FIA Formula 1 Commission met in Estoril on Thursday afternoon to discuss the matters of the moment in F1. These included the Phillip Island test and modifications to rules concerning the working of the Safety Car system.

The legality of the gathering was, however, questionable as the 1996 Concorde Agreement is still in force and runs until the end of the year. The Commission which met in Portugal was the 1997 version and did not include Ron Dennis or FrankÊWilliams but rather Tom Walkinshaw, Eddie Jordan and Peter Sauber. In theory at least this body does not yet exist and the only way it can exist is if all the teams covered by the 1992-1996 Concorde Agreement agree to the change.
