The Ramel effect

THERE is another new engine company trying to break into Formula 1 and offering its services to F1 teams. It is called Ramel and we understand that it has been formed by racing entrepreneur Alan Randall and engine designer Al Melling. Both men have been trying to find a way into F1 for some years. Randall bought the remains of the Brabham F1 team from the liquidators but never found any money to run it - a problem which he also encountered with a team of Jaguar sportscars which he had planned in the early 1990s.

Melling has spent the last few years doing consultancy work with an engine company called Scott Russell and claims to have developed a revolutionary injection system.
