Fiorio confirmed at Forti

AS predicted last month, Cesare Fiorio has finally been confirmed as a consultant with the Forti Formula 1 team. His job will be to restructure the unsuccessful team: hire new engineers, institute longer-term planning and quality control measures and look after general team management.

His deal is for the next eight races - until the French GP. This is significant as we understand that Fiorio was considering another offer before he took the Forti job and we believe that he is likely to return to Ligier in July to take over the running of the team from Tom Walkinshaw.

Rumors in Italy suggest that Fiorio's first move at Forti will be to hire former Ferrari engineer Enrique Scalabroni to head the technical department. Scalabroni has spent the last couple of years working on the abortive Ikuzawa International F1 operation.
