Collard to be Tyrrell's tester?
TYRRELL says that it will nominate a test driver within a couple of weeks and there are indications that the job will go to Frenchman Emmanuel Collard - who was expected to be named Jordan's test driver.
Collard tested for Tyrrell a year ago and was in the running for the drive which went ultimately to Mika Salo. Collard ended up doing some nominal testing for Benetton - Elf paying for the privilege.
One indication of a possible deal was the appearance of an Elf sticker on the Tyrrell, indicative of a driver deal.
The Jordan test drive will either go to Fabrizio de Simone, son of the boss of Jordan sponsor Uliveto, or to Vincenzo Sospiri, who is expected to join Jordan if the Camel cigarette deal is confirmed.
