More trouble in Melbourne

WITH seven weeks to go before the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, protests against the race continue, despite legislation which bans protesters from the site of the Albert Park race.

On Saturday, several hundred protesters invaded the site once again and occupied the grandstands which have already been constructed to listen to speeches from their leaders.

Police moved in and arrested nearly a hundred people who are expected to be charged with trespass.

The protests appear to have changed from being environmentalist in nature to becoming political, as campaigners object to the way in which the Victorian state government has limited their freedom to protest.
