Grid confusions

WITH just a few days to go before the British Grand Prix, it is still unclear as to who will be driving for the Arrows and Pacific teams at Silverstone.

Pacific is expected to continue with Andrea Montermini for one last race before he is replaced by another well-supported Italian. The team is in desperate need of money to survive and has an army of sponsor-hunters trying to raise backing. Unfortunately this is not proving easy as the team has no results to speak of, and it is not usually possible to convince big sponsors to invest in the future when they can get instant high-profile with a top team for the same kind of money.

The Arrows team is also struggling for cash, and team boss Jackie Oliver is not keen to continue spending his own money to fund Gianni Morbidelli's efforts. Morbidelli is expected to be replaced by Portuguese driver Pedro Lamy, and there are even suggestions that Japanese pay-driver Taki Inoue will also be replaced because his money has dried up. If this is the case, Italian Max Papis is likely to appear at Silverstone.

The rest of the grid is expected to be same as usual at the British GP.
