After a costly apprenticeship in the Sudam Formula 3 Championship, Formula 3000 and the Japanese Formula Nippon category, Tuero was recruited into the Minardi Formula 1 team for the 1998 season, finishing eighth in the San Marino Grand Prix. After injuring his neck in a collision with Tora Takagi's Tyrrell in the Japanese Grand Prix, he vanished back to Argentina, never to return.
