Noritake Takahara

Takahara began racing in 1969 in a Honda S800 coupe and by 1973 went to Europe that year for a limited program of Formula 2 races. He drove in the non-Championship 1974 International Trophy race in a March 741 but then went back to Japan and won the national Formula 2000 title (the local equivalent to Formula 2) in a March-BMW. He repeated that success in 1976 and at the end of the year finished ninth in the Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji in a rented Surtees TS19. He drove a locally brewed Kojima 009 in the following year's Fuji race but crashed on the opening lap. He spent the rest of the decade driving in the well-supported Japanese national Formula 2 series.
