Takachiho (Taki) Inoue

Inoue first appeared in the UK when he raced Formula Ford in 1987 then returned to Japan to contest the national Formula 3 championship for the next six years. A move into the Japanese Formula 3000 series presaged a one-off drive in Formula 1 with the Simtek team at Suzuka in 1994 followed by a full season with the Footwork team. His most spectacular moments came at Monaco, when the Footwork was upended in a collision with the course car while it was being towed back to the pits, and later in the year he was knocked flying by a rescue vehicle sent to retrieve his broken-down car at Hungaroring.
