Date of birth: June 12, 1948 - Zell am Ziller, nr Innsbruck

A protege of Dr. Helmut Marko, Binder won the European Formula Ford Championship in 1972 and then progressed through Formula 3 and moved into Formula 2 in 1976 and tried to qualify for his home GP that year in an Ensign. At the end of the year he reappeared in Japan in a Wolf Williams. The following season he raised the necessary finance to drive for the Surtees team in 1977 but when that ran out he had a run in an ATS because disappearing from the F1 scene.
