A private entrant in Formula 2 races in the early 1950s, Adolff raced mainly BMW-engined specials in 1951 but did not really score any major results, although he finished second at a minor race at the Riem military airfield. He popped up again in 1953 having acquired a Ferrari 500 from Rudolf Fischer and he began to score some better results. At the German Grand Prix that year he raced a stripped-down Ferrari 166 but he retired after only a few laps and he did not reappear in single-seaters although he enjoyed some success in hillclimbs and in touring car racing.
