Mark Williams

Mark Williams was born on April 7 1959 and attended Imperial College, London, where he studied mechanical engineering. In his vacations he worked as a fabricator with Team Ensign. He moved on to become a design engineer with engineering technology company Ricardo Plc before moving into his first fulltime job in racing as a designer with Lola Cars. For 10 years he worked Lola, designing Formula 3000 and Indycar chassis before leaving the firm in 1996 to join McLaren's sports car operation, run by McLaren Cars. He then moved on to the F1 team at the end of 1997 and began working as a test team engineer. In 2001 he was appointed Chief Engineer for Vehicle Development and has since been given the role of Chief Engineer Vehicle Dynamics, overseeing resaerch and development in the short and long term.
