PEOPLE: NICK FRY

A graduate of the University of Wales, Fry joined the Ford Motor Company in 1978. He moved quickly into product development, working on a variety of different models, including the Escort Cosworth and RS2000. In 1992 he was appointed the director of operations at Aston Martin and a year later was named managing director, overseeing the development of the DB7. He moved on to a series of senior jobs in Ford Europe in Germany until 2001 when he was offered the role of managing director of Prodrive Automotive Technology. He quickly became group managing director and in 2002 was given the additional task of being the MD of British American Racing. In 2005 he left Prodrive to become chief executive of the team, which was then being taken over by Honda. He retained the same role when the team became Honda Racing F1 in 2006 and that year the team won its first victory in Hungary thanks to the efforts of Jenson Button.
