Pierre-Michel Fauconnier

Educated at business school in Paris - the Ecole Superieure de Commerce - Fauconnier graduated in 1973 and joined the SCOA company, a division of the vast Paribas business empire, working in its automobile section. He was immediately posted to Nigeria, where he spent four years as first branch manager and then regional manager.In 1979 he was recruited to work in the International Business Division of Automobiles Peugeot as an export manager. There followed a series of foreign postings in South Africa, Taiwan, Nigeria and Tunisia. After 10 years in the field he was finally posted to Paris where he became the director of international marketing for Peugeot.In March 1995 he took over from Michel Schreiber as head of all sporting activities of the PSA Peugeot Citroen empire, overseeing not only the Peugeot F1 activities but also Citroen's rally-raid program, Peugeot's French Touring Car Championship effort and Citroen's involvement in international rallycross.In January 1996 he was given the added responsibility of running the Peugeot Sport F1 program - replacing Jean-Pierre Jabouille. His brief was to turn the Peugeot Sport F1 program into a success. This was not easy and in June 1998 Fauconnier was "promoted" to a new marketing job, selling Peugeot and Citroen products in South America. His job at Peugeot Sport was given to public relations supremo Corrado Provera.
