The son of Wellington's Jaguar dealer, this New Zealand amateur punctuated a European non-Championship Formula 1 program with an outing in the 1962 British Grand Prix at the wheel of his Lotus 18. In the mid-1960s he returned to concentrate on his thriving car dealerships and later moved to Honolulu where he operated the largest US Mazda dealership.
