A bearded and popular Formula Ford and Formula 3 front runner from the late 1960s and early 70s, Wilds tried his hand in Formula 1 first in 1974, initially with a March and then with a works Ensign and then in an uncompetitive BRM P201 in the 1975 Argentine and Brazilian Grands Prix.
