Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima ended the second practice session in Spain with a strong 1-2 result for Williams F1. Third place (probably with a light fuel load) was Fernando Alonso in his Renault. The fourth best time was set by Rubens Barrichello in his Brawn, two places ahead of team-mate Jenson Button. Between the two was Mark Webber in his Red Bull Renault, while his team-mate was seventh. Nelson Piuqet Jr was eighth fastest but went off several times in the course of the 90-minute session. Ninth quickest was Sebastien Buemi, two places ahead of Sebastien Bourdais, the pair split by the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen.

Twelfth fastest was the Force India of Giancarlo Fisichella ahead of the two McLarens of Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen and Felipe Massa's Ferrari. Sixteenth and 17th were the two BMW Saubers of Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, while the two Toyotas were obviously not going for times with Timo Glock 18th and Jarno Trulli 19th. Adrian Sutil did not go out and set no time in his Force India.
