Jenson Button topped the timesheets in the first practice session for the Spanish GP in Barcelona and with Jarno Trulli second things were pretty much as they have been in recent events. It was interesting to see the two BMW Saubers third and fourth with Robert Kubica ahead of Nick Heidfeld. The two Williams-Toyotas were also running well with Kazuki Nakajima beating Nico Rosberg to fifth. Nelson Piquet was seventh ahead of Timo Glock in the second Toyota. Felipe Massa was ninth, Rubens Barrichello 10th and Kimi Raikkonen 11th.

The Red Bulls were 12th and 13th with Mark Webber ahead of Sebastian Vettel with Lewis Hamilton in 14th. The fiedl was completed by Sebastien Bourdais, Giancarlo Fisichella, Fernando Alonso, Sebastien Buemi, Heikki Kovalainen and Adrian Sutil.

With most of the teams busy testing new parts, the order may well change this afternoon.
