Practice 3 Report - Sutil hits the jackpot in Monte Carlo
Adrian Sutil is not a name that has made much of an impact thus far in Formula 1 history. The German has had a series of first lap incidents in most of the races this year but has made a favourable impression on the Spyker team. His biggest claim to fame is that he is a mate of Lewis Hamilton from Formula 3 days. But in a rainy session in Monte Carlo on Saturday morning Sutil gave F1 a bit of excitement as he emerged at the top of the time sheets, ahead of the likes of Kimi Raikkonen and Hamilton.
At the time the track was drying, a dry line was emerging and it was really down to who was where and who else was in the way. The cards fell in Sutil's favour. It was nonetheless a decent effort.
There were all manner of incidents in the course of the session but extraordinarily no-one made any serious impact with the barriers, despite the best efforts of Ralf Schumacher, who went off several times. Lewis Hamilton was also off the road a lot, while the likes of David Coulthard, Takuma Sato, Alex Wurz and others were all spinners.
At the end of the session the order was Sutil, Raikkonen, Hamilton, Giancarlo Fisichella, Scott Speed, Fernando Alonso and Heikki Kovalainen. Next up were Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello, Mark Webber and Felipe Massa.
The order was completed by Takuma Sato, Anthony Davidson, Coulthard, Wurz, Nick Heidfeld, Christijan Albers, Schumacher, Tonio Liuzzi, who was very quick early on but then stopped running after eight laps, with Jarno Trulli bringing up the rear.
