Practice 2 Report - Wurz sets the pace

Alexander Wurz topped the timsesheets on Thursday afternoon at Monaco in his Williams-Cosworth, beating Anthony Davidson to the fastest time of the day with a lap of 1m15.907s, eight-tenths of a second faster than the best time of the morning session. Honda's Anthony Davidson was second fastest but caused two red flags in the course of the session: the first when he knocked over a bollard and then the second when he crashed the Honda into the wall at the exit of Ste Devote and tore off the front left wheel.

Juan-Pablo Montoya gave McLaren some hope with the third fastest time, two-tenths slower than Davidson and a tenth ahead of Fernando Alonso's Renault. Fifth fastest was a bit of surprise in the form of Red Bull Racing test driver Robert Doornbos while Kimi Raikkonen was sixth quickest, the team having got away without having to change the Finn's engine after a problem in the morning session.

Giancarlo Fisichella was seventh ahead of David Coulthard, Jenson Button and Felipe Massa.

Further back Tiago Monteiro surprised with 12th quickest, two sports ahead of the MF1 test driver Giorgio Mondini and Michael Schumacher 15th.

There were a number of incidents apart from Davidson's two red flags. Robert Kubica crashed his BMW at Rascasse while both Mondini and Franck Montagny both had spins.
