Italian Grand Prix Preview

RACE DATE: 12 SEPTEMBER 2004
LOCATION: MONZA, ITALY
2003 WINNER: M.SCHUMACHER

Built by 3,500 men in 100 days, this circuit has made an historic royal park near Milan into the greatest amphitheatre in motor racing. Home to the Italian Grand Prix since 1922, Monza has seen several layouts including the banked circuit of which the preservation is a hotly-contested local issue but always it has been all about speed. The Curva Grande, Lesmos and Parabolica have challenged the finest drivers of every era - and the baying tifosi have eyes and hearts only for the red cars from Modena. McLaren drivers in particular receive a rough ride and break down on the circuit at their peril!
