Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time of the Saturday morning session in Hungary with a time that was four-tenths faster than Nick Heidfeld's BMW Sauber and Nico Rosberg's Williams-Toyota. Heikki Kovalainen was fourth but with Senastien Buemi fifth in his Toro Rosso, it was clear that the times could not be taken too seriously.

Timo Glock was sixth over all for Toyota ahead of Felipe Massa's Ferrari, Williams's Kazuki Nakajima, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

Robert Kubica put his BMW Sauber 11th quickest ahead of the Jarno Trulli Toyota, Rubens Barrichello's Brawn and Nelson Piquet's Renault.

Kimi Raikkonen was 15th in his Ferrari ahead of Fernando Alonso's Renault, Jenson Button's Brawn, the Toro Rosso of Jamie Alguersuari and the two Force Indias of Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil.
