Kimi Raikkonen set the pace in Friday morning's testing for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The McLaren driver completed just five laps to set a best of 1m22.396s. Second fastest was Honda test driver Anthony Davidson with a best of 1m22.396s after 28 laps. Michael Schumacher was also in the hunt but like Raikkonen he did just a few laps. Of the rest Pedro de la Rosa was fourth fastest ahead of Alexander Wurz (Williams), Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button (Honda), Robert Doornbos (Red Bull) and Jarno Trulli (Toyota). The top 10 was completed by Markus Winkelhock's Midland.

Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella did one installation lap apiece (Fisichella going off briefly during his lap), as did the two Red Bull Racing race drivers, while Williams, BMW and Felipe Massa were not seen at all.
