Hungarian GP 2004

AUGUST 12, 2004

Hungarian Grand Prix Preview

RACE DATE: 15 AUGUST 2004
LOCATION: BUDAPEST, HUNGARY
2003 WINNER: ALONSO

The first and so far only one of the Eastern Bloc states to host a Grand Prix, the fixture first appeared in 1986. Thick dust and a marked lack of overtaking opportunities are the hallmarks of a tortuous circuit used once per year - and a limitless supply of prostitutes eager for Western currency. Nigel Mansell's 1989 victory from 12th place aside, this is not a spectacular circuit, likened to Monaco without the buildings and particularly unloved by F1's truckies who must manouvre in the most cramped paddock on the calendar.
