Practice 3 Report - Lewis back on top

Lewis Hamilton hit back after a Friday dominated by Ferrari, putting his McLaren-Mercedes to the top of the timesheets in the Saturday morning session. The gap was a tiny 0.063s over Felipe Massa, but the margin is not important. The news is that McLaren is still in the game and that this will not be a Ferrari walkover as we expected from yesterday's times. The two men were nearly half a second clear of the rest with Kimi Raikkonen third followed by the intriguing possibility of a better showing from Renault with Heikki Kovalainen fourth, a tenth ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella.

BMW Sauber has not been having an easy weekend and has slipped back down the order with Robert Kubica, making his comeback after missing Indianapolis, in sixth but Nick Heidfeld struggling with a back problem on Friday but deciding to keep going on Saturday and presumably suffering from not having done as much preparation as he might have liked. He was 15th on Saturday morning.

Williams seemed to be more or less where one would expect to see the team with Nico Rosberg seventh and Alexander Wurz 17th.

Fernando Alonso was eighth but wa sstill ahead of Jarno Trulli's Toyota and the fastest of the four Red Bull cars, driven by David Coulthard, although he was only a few hundredths ahead of Tonio Liuzzi in a Toro Rosso that is several aero steps behind its sister car.

Jenson Button was 12th overall, suggesting that Honda has made some progress in recent weeks with Anthony Davidson 13th in his Super Aguri.

Ralf Schumacher was 14th.

Rubens Barrichello was 16th with Wurz and Scott Speed behind him. Takuma Sato had a slow morning with the 19th best time but was still ahead of Mark Webber, who is not having an easy weekend, and the two Spykers of Adrian Sutil and Christijan Albers, in their usual order.
