Practice 2 Report - Kubica stays ahead
Robert Kubica ended the second practice session for the French Grand Prix with the fastest time, repeating his performance in the morning session, setting a time that was six-tenths of a second faster than World Champion Fernando Alonso. Anthony Davidson was third quickest but was three-tenths slower than Alonso while Williams test driver Alexander Wurz was fourth, just ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella's Renault and Michael Schumacher's Ferrari. Adrian Sutil was seventh quickest in the MF1-Toyota ahead of Robert Doornbos (Red Bull Racing), Ralf Schumacher and Toro Rossos's Neel Jani.
There were several incidents of note in the session, not least the fact that Rubens Barrichello spun into the wall at the chicane, an accident which was later repeated by Scott Speed.
At the end of the session Kimi Raikkonen pulled off the track in his McLaren with an apparent mechanical problem.
