European Grand Prix Preview
CIRCUITS: NURBURGRING

RACE DATE: 30 MAY 2004
LOCATION: NURBURG/EIFEL, GERMANY
2003 WINNER: R.SCHUMACHER
From the paddock of the 'new' Nurburgring, opened in 1984, you can see the original Nordschleife wending its way for 14 miles around the Eifel mountains and it's hard not to feel a bit sad. The start/finish straight is the only part of the greatest challenge in motor racing history to have survived into the modern incarnationleading into the tight Castrol Ess which is the scene of first lap contretemps. Undeniably safer than its ancestor, its main features are gigantic gravel traps and beery fans of Michael Schumacher when it plays host to the European Grand Prix.
