World champion Sebastian Vettel (1:13.381) set comfortably the quickest time in final practice for the Canadian GP in Montreal, just over three tenths clear of Fernando Alonso's Ferrari (1:13.701).

Vettel's was the only RB7 to run in the session, however, with team mate Mark Webber failing to get out due to a KERS battery problem.

Nico Rosberg (1:13.919) set third fastest time for Mercedes, ahead of Felipe Massa's Ferrari and the McLarens of Jenson Button (1:14.335) and Lewis Hamilton (1:14.469). Michael Schumacher was seventh quickest (1:14.488) and then came a half second gap to Vitaly Petrov (1:14.917) with the second Renault.

The Force Indias continued to show strong performance with both Adrian Sutil (1:15.217) and Paul Di Resta (1:15.243) featuring in the top 10.

The session was red-flagged just before the end when Turn 4 claimed another victim as Pedro De la Rosa lost the rear end of the Sauber. The Spaniard, stepping in for Sergio Perez, who still seems to be feeling the effects of his Monaco shunt, had worked down to 17th fastest time within a couple of tenths of team mate Kobayashi.

The indications are that some of the tail-end teams could be in trouble with the 107% rule here, with both HRTs and Virgins outside 107% of Vettel's FP3 pace. They may have to hope that the quick boys are again in tyre conservation mode in Q1.
