Canadian Grand Prix Preview

RACE DATE: 13 JUNE 2004
LOCATION: MONTREAL, CANADA
2003 WINNER: M.SCHUMACHER

Laid out around the perimeter of an island on the St Lawrence Seaway that was originally home to the Expo '67 and 1968 Olympics, the inaugural race of 1978 was won by Quebec's prodigal son Gilles Villeneuve. In 1982 the circuit was posthumously named after him, but missed out on the 1987 calendar as a new pit complex was installed. With a combination of long high speed sections and hard braking into its hairpin and chicanes Montreal is tough on brakes but popular with the F1 community - especially as the nightlife is second to none.
