Alexander Wurz set the fastest time of the afternoon session in Sao Paulo, beating his constant testing rival Anthony Davidson a tenth slower in his Honda. The duo were two tenths faster than BMW's Sebastian Vettel.

The fastest of the regular drivers was Jarno Trulli in fourth place in his Toyota ahead of Honda's Jenson Button, Michael Schumacher and Ralf Schumacher. Franck Montagny was a surprising eighth quickest in his Super Aguri, chased by Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso.

Michael Schumacher, Giancarlo Fisichella and Scott Speed all had off track moments and Robert Doornbos stopped out on the track.
