Practice 1 Report - Adrian Sutil fastest in Bahrain first practice

The Force India of Adrian Sutil topped the timesheets in the first practice session of the 2010 Formula One World Championship, Friday morning, in Bahrain - putting in a lap time of 1m56.583 seconds. The German driver surprised by lapping almost two tenths of a second quicker than pre-season favourite Fernando Alonso, in the Ferrari.

Robert Kubica also surprised by finishing the session third fastest in his Renault, lapping 0.458 seconds behind, followed closely by the other Ferrari of Felipe Massa. The McLarens of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton were fifth and sixth fastest - followed by Vitantonio Liuzzi in the second Force India in seventh, Nico Rosberg in the Mercedes in eighth, Mark Webber in the Red Bull ninth and Michael Schumacher in the Mercedes rounding out the top ten.

Of the new teams, Timo Glock was fastest in the Virgin, 7.097 seconds behind the leader, followed by the two Lotus cars of Heikki Kovalainen (7.265s) and Jarno Trulli (7.387s). Lucs di Grassi in the second Virgin completed two slow laps.

HRT also made it on the track having completed scrutineering this morning - Bruno Senna taking the Dallara made chassis out for a shakedown with 20 minutes to go in the session, Karun Chandhok's car was not ready.
