A great place for the race it says on the posters, and they do not mislead. Winning the contract from Adelaide for the 1996 race meant that Melbourne had a lot to live up to in the F1 world's eyes - and it did not disappoint. After a non-championship race in 1956 there followed a 40-year hiatus but the rvived circuit is a stunning mix of sweeping straights and challenging bends with attractions in a city that's second to none.
