Montezemolo heads FOTA

Getting Ferrari to join an association of Formula 1 teams was obviously not an easy thing to achieve and so it is not really a surprise to hear that the president of the new Formula One Teams Association (FOTA), will be Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo. It is an appointment which also makes sense as Montezemolo is used to dealing with the big manufacturers in his role as the boss of the Fiat empire. The appointment is for 12 months after which another decision will be taken about the position.

The establishment of an association is an interesting step for the teams who have often been divided in the past by their own self interests.
