The Indy Racing League gets going

This weekend the Indy Racing League goes back into action at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida with a field that is a little weaker than in 2006. It is anticipated that once again the championship will be a fight between Team Penske, Andretti Green Racing and the Target Chip Ganassi team. Penske will once again run with Sam Hornish Jr and Helio Castroneves, while Ganassi boasts Dan Wheldon and Scott Dixon and Andretti has Tony Kanaan, Dario Franchitti, Marco Andretti and Danica Patrick. Rahal Letterman Racing will run Scott Sharp and Jeff Simmons, while Panther will field Vitor Meira and Japan's Kosuke Matsuura. The field lacks strength in depth with Dreyer & Reinbold running Buddy Rice and Sarah Fisher and Tony George's Vision Racing running three cars for AJ Foyt IV, Ed Carpenter and Tomas Scheckter. AJ Foyt will run a car for Darren Manning and there may be one or two other entries.
