BMW expanding Sauber facilities

BMW is in the process of adding 100 new staff members to the team at Sauber headquarters in Hinwil, Switzerland. These will be mainly engeering staff. In order to house the new staff the team is renting office space in the town but work will soon begin on a new building which will house the expanded team by 2007.

BMW F1 chief Mario Theissen says that the team has a perfect windtunnel but that it needs to expand its laboratories, testing rigs and assembly areas as the factory, once one of the best in F1, is now small compared to many of the others.

The new building is being built alongside the existing factory and has been designed to integrate with the current facilities.
