Wheldon joins Target Chip Ganassi Racing

Dan Wheldon is staying in America in 2006, having been unable to agree to a deal with the BMW Sauber F1 team. He will race for Target Chip Ganassi Racing, alongside Scott Dixon. The news will be confirmed later today at a press conference in Indianapolis. The 27-year-old English driver won the 2005 title with Andretti Green Racing.

Ryan Briscoe, who drove for Ganassi this year aftger replacing Darren Manning, will switch to Champ Car and will soon be seen testing for Kevin Kalkhoven's PKV where a replacement is needed for the retiring Jimmy Vasser.

The news means that BMW has little choice but to keep Jacques Villeneuve in 2006.

The big question now is what happens in 2007.
