BT to sponsor McLaren?
The word on the street in Hockenheim is that McLaren may be about to announce a sponsorship with British Telecommunications plc. BT is fast developing its broadband empire around the world and aims to spread its networks across the world, creating mobility services for its customers wherever they are. It is already one of Europe's leading providers of telecommunications services, including local, national and international telecommunications services, higher-value broadband and internet products and services, and IT solutions. The company has been expanding with the acquisition of BT Albacom in Italy, BT Radianz, a system used by the world's financial community, and expanding its BT Infonet services. The company, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange is run by Dutchman Ben Verwaayen, who became chief executive in 2002. He was formerly in the management of Lucent Technologies in the USA.
