Aguri goes to IRL

Former F1 driver Aguri Suzuki has been busy in recent years building up a network to help young Japanese racing drivers become successful on the international scene. His ARTA programme has resulted in several drivers making an impact in European racing, notably in Formula 3 in Germany and France and this year in Toyota Atlantic in the United States.

On Tuesday Adrian Fernandez announced plans to establish Super Aguri Fernandez Racing, a team which will field an ARTA-sponsored Dallara-Honda in the Indy Racing League next year. This will be driven by Toyota Atlantic racer Roger Yasukawa from Los Angeles.

The new team will operate out of the Fernandez Racing headquarters in Indianapolis from where the team will also continue to run a car in CART for team owner Adrian Fernandez.
