Monza officials confirm fireman marshal dead
The marshal, PaoloÊGhislimberti, 30, was injured when debris was scattered across the track as Pedro de la Rosa's Arrows flew through the air joining David Coulthard, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Jarno Trulli and Rubens Barrichello in the gravel trap at the la Roggia chicane.
The official was given a heart massage at the side of the track and was then taken to the circuit medical centre.
From there he was transferred to a Monza hospital where he was in a critical condition with head and chest injuries. But circuit officials later confirmed that Ghislimberti had died in hospital.
