Verstappen -- "I want to stay at Arrows"

DUTCHMAN Jos Verstappen has told Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw that he wants to remain with the team next season -- despite rumors that he was aiming for a more competitive drive in 2001.

Verstappen, who is close friends with German Michael Schumacher, dismissed speculation that the two-time world champion would help him engage in a switch, and insisted he had already told Arrows of his plans.

"I would love to stay but it is up to Tom now," Verstappen said. "With the AMT engine deal and the design team and its sponsorship, things are looking good next year.

"Pedro de la Rosa and I work well together and we have a good partnership."

The 28-year-old revealed that he was only in talks with rival outfits to safeguard his future if Arrows decided not to renew his contract.

"We are talking to other teams as that's normal on Formula One. They have shown interest but that's not the issue. I would love to stay at Arrows," he added.
