Bruce Halford
Amiable driver from Devon, whose family owned a Torquay hotel, and who bought the ex-Prince Bira Maserati 250F from Horace Gould, led a similarly enterprising, semi-nomadic life mainly on the non-Championship European Formula 1 circuit. He later drove a Formula 2 Lotus before retiring to the family hotel, and to yachting, his other great enthusiasm. In the mid-1970s he returned to historic racing with some gusto at the wheel of a Lotus 16. He died in 2001.
