Andrew Tilley

Tilley studied for a mechanical engineering diploma between 1983-86 and then spent two years as a freelance designer before joining Reynard Racing Cars in 1988 and began working as a race engineer in Formula 3000. At the end of 1991 he moved to Team Lotus and in 1992 was Mika Hakkinen's race engineer, linking up with Alex Zanardi in 1993 and then with Pedro Lamy and Zanardi in 1994.

After Team Lotus closed down Tilley spent a year with Minardi in Italy as a design engineer and as race engineer for Luca Badoer before returning to Britain to become Martin Brundle's race engineer with Jordan Grand Prix. He stayed with the Silverstone-based team in 1997, looking after Giancarlo Fisichella and was then recruited by Sauber to be track coordinator and head of development engineering.

He left the Swiss team at the end of 1999. He became a freelance engineer but in 2002 joined Minardi where he became deputy technical director but departed after the team was taken over by Red Bull in 2005.
