Sonax

BY JOE SAWARD

The German car care products company Hoffman Sonax KG was established in 1983 as an independent company, being spun off from its original parent company Hoffmann & Sohne KG of which it had previously been a division. This company can trace its roots back to 1905 when it was established in the town of Neuburg (Donau), just up the road from the town of Ingolstadt, later to become famous as the home of the Audi car company.

The German car care products company Hoffman Sonax KG was established in 1983 as an independent company, being spun off from its original parent company Hoffmann & Sohne KG of which it had previously been a division. This company can trace its roots back to 1905 when it was established in the town of NeuburgÊ(Donau), just up the road from the town of Ingolstadt, later to become famous as the home of the Audi car company.

Since Sonax became an independent entity, the company has invested heavily in motor racing sponsorship, usually with German teams or drivers. The company entered Formula 1 with the Zakspeed team back in 1988 but that program was very disappointing and so Sonax turned its attention to touring car racing before it returned to Formula 1 with the Williams F1 team when the team was running Heinz-Harald Frentzen.

The company is growing all the time and currently manufactures products for cars, bicycles and motorcycles and sells in 70 different countries around the world. It has annual sales of $450m and employs around 300 people at its various facilities.
