Ivor Bueb

This fun-loving, extrovert garage owner from Cheltenham is best known for sharing the winning Jaguar D-type with Mike Hawthorn in the 1955 Le Mans 24-hour classic, a success he repeated with Ron Flockhart in the Ecurie Ecosse car two years later.Bueb started racing seriously in a Formula 3 500cc Cooper in 1953, graduating to occasional starts in Grands Prix with a Connaught and a private Maserati. He died from injuries sustained when he crashed his British Racing Partnership Cooper-Borgward Formula 1 car at Clermont-Ferrand.
