Rondini (Gulf Rondini Racing)

Established in 1975 to run Alessandro Pesenti-Rossi in Italian Formula 3 and European Formula 2 races, Gulf Rondini Racing was run by Francesco Randon and team manager Giuseppe Zugan with engineer Gianfranco Bielli. It was based in Bergamo, Italy and enjoyed limited success in both series with March machinery. The team arranged to hire a Tyrrell-Ford 007 which was run in Gulf colors, while the Tyrrell team ran the exciting new P34 six-wheeled cars for Patrick Depailler and Jody Scheckter. The team made its debut at the disastrous German GP where Pesenti-Rossi qualified last on the grid and finished 14th, a lap behind Hunt. Things were little better at the Austrian GP but Pesenti-Rossi failed to qualify in Holland. The final appearance came in the Italian GP at Monza where Pesenti-Rossi qualified 21st in a field of 26 and finished 18th. The team was not seen again.
