Hernando da Silva Ramos

A French/Brazilian duel national, Nano da Silva Ramos was the son of a wealthy businessman who had raced Bugattis in the 1930s. He made his racing debut in an MG in Brazil in 1947 but his career did not really take off until he returned to Europe and acquired an Aston Martin sports car. In 1955 he joined the Gordini Formula 1 team, finishing eighth in the Dutch Grand Prix and then a career best fifth at Monaco in 1956. He continued to compete occasionally until 1959 when he finally retired.
