Massa leads the way in Montreal

The first practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix resulted in the fastest time going to Felipe Massa in his Ferrari, two-tenths of a second ahead of the BMW Sauber of Robert Kubica. Heikki Kovalainen was third fastest, half a second back on Kubica, with Nick Heidfeld fourth in his BMW. Kimi Raikkonen was fifth in his Ferrari with Lewis Hamilton next, followed by the two Red Bulls of Mark Webber and David Coulthard, Kazuki Nakajima's Williams-Toyota and Fernando Alonso's Renault. Nico Rosberg was 11th with Sebastian Vettel next in his Toro Rosso, ahead of the Toyotas of Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli and the Force Indias of Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil.

The field was completed by Nelson Piquet's Renault, Rubens Barrichello's Honda, Sebastien Bourdais's Toro Rosso and the second Honda of Jenson Button.
